FAQ

Your questions about air compressors

Short answers to the questions we are asked most: choosing a compressor, prices, rental, delivery, warranty and maintenance.

Choosing a compressor

What compressor should I choose for a garage?

For occasional use, such as tyre inflation, a few wheel changes and a blow gun, a piston compressor is enough. If air is used for much of the day or at several stations at once, choose a screw compressor, such as the S 55 (5.5 kW) or the K 75 4-in-1 (7.5 kW), which includes the tank, the dryer and the filtration.

What is the difference between a screw compressor and a piston compressor?

A screw compressor compresses air continuously with two rotating screws: it is built to run all day. A piston compressor needs rest time between cycles: it suits intermittent use, a few hours a day.

What pressure do I need for a workshop compressor?

Most workshop air tools work at around 6 bar. Adding network losses and a margin of about 1 bar, an 8 bar compressor is enough in most workshops, and a 10 bar model gives you headroom. 13 and 16 bar models meet specific needs, such as laser cutting.

What size of compressor do I need?

It depends on the air used by the tools running at the same time, not on the total number of tools. Add up the consumption of the tools used together and keep a margin. The configurator on this website does the calculation from your list of tools.

Can a screw compressor run all day?

Yes. Compression by two rotating screws is continuous: a screw compressor is designed to run continuously, unlike a piston compressor, which needs rest time.

Do I need an air dryer with my compressor?

It is not essential for inflating or tightening, but condensation water wears out tools and rusts pipes. A refrigerated dryer becomes useful as soon as air is used all day or feeds a paint gun. The K series 4-in-1 compressors already include the dryer and the filtration.
