Screw compressor maintenance - the practical guide

Daily checks, services based on operating hours, and the role of service kits.

A well-maintained screw compressor runs for years without losing performance. Maintenance follows a simple principle: a few regular checks, and services scheduled in operating hours, shown on the machine's hour meter.

Regular checks

  • Drain the condensate from the air receiver and filters, unless the drain is automatic: accumulated water reduces usable volume and promotes corrosion.
  • Check the oil level in the sight glass.
  • Check the pressure on the pressure gauge and note any unusual deviation.
  • Keep the machine clean and ventilated, with intake grilles unobstructed.

Scheduled services

The first service comes early in the machine's life: it removes residues from the running-in period. On the Screw compressor 7.5 kW 4-in-1, it is scheduled at 500 hours. Subsequent intervals are given in the French-language manual supplied with each compressor.

At each service, the wear parts are replaced:

  • the air filter, which protects the screw from dust;
  • the oil and oil filter, which lubricate and cool the screw;
  • the air/oil separator, which captures oil before the air outlet.

In a dusty workshop (woodworking, sanding), check the air filter more often.

AIRSTAHL service kits

For each screw compressor, we group the parts for one service into a service kit: a single part number, the right one for your model. Kits are in stock in France and spare parts are available for 15 years.

When to contact after-sales service

Abnormal temperature rise, falling pressure, unusual noise, oil in the outlet air: stop the machine and submit an after-sales request with the serial number, the model and a description of the problem. Photos help us diagnose faster.
