Compressor for joinery workshops
Screw compressor for joinery workshops - nailers, staplers, finishing spray guns and dust blow-off. 11 kW model recommended. 2-year warranty.
In a joinery workshop, compressed air powers nailers and staplers for assembly, varnish and lacquer spray guns for finishing, and the blow gun that clears chips from the machines. Several craftsmen, several workstations, and a compressor that has to keep up.
What matters in a woodworking shop
- Dust. The compressor draws in air from the workshop. Install it in a separate room or away from the machines, and keep an eye on the intake filter: it is the first wear part to go in a woodworking shop.
- Finishing. For varnish and lacquer, the air must be dry and filtered, just as in a body shop.
- Continuous work. Batch assembly, finishing all day long: this is exactly what a screw compressor is built for.
Which compressor for a joinery workshop? The 11 kW screw compressor
For a joinery workshop running several assembly and finishing stations, the Screw compressor 11 kW provides the air flow capacity needed, combined with a suitable air receiver and dryer.
For a smaller workshop, the 7.5 kW 4-in-1 already integrates a 420 L air receiver, the dryer and filtration. And for occasional use of a nailer and blow gun, the Piston compressor 7.5 kW remains a simple solution.
Easy maintenance
AIRSTAHL service kits bring together the filters and wear parts for each model. In a woodworking shop, always keep a spare filter on hand: our consumables are in stock in England.

Which air compressor for a joinery workshop?
For several assembly and finishing stations, the 11 kW screw compressor combined with an air receiver and dryer provides the necessary air flow reserve. A smaller workshop can start with the 7.5 kW 4-in-1, which includes a 420 L air receiver, dryer and filtration. For a nailer and a blow gun used occasionally, the 7.5 kW piston compressor is enough.
How much air does a pneumatic nailer or stapler use?
Not much: around 80 l/min in normal use according to the configurator on our website; check this on the tool's data sheet. It is the number of workstations in use at the same time, plus finishing spray guns and the blow gun, that pushes the requirement up. Add up the tools used at the same time to size the compressor.
How do I protect an air compressor from wood dust?
The compressor draws in the surrounding air: install it in a separate room or away from the machines and the dust extraction. Check the intake filter often, as it is the first wear part in a woodworking shop, and keep a spare. A clogged filter makes the machine overheat and increases its consumption.
Do I need dry air for spraying varnish or lacquer?
Yes. For varnish and lacquer, the air must be dry and filtered, as in a body shop; otherwise water and oil leave defects on the finish. A refrigerated dryer after the compressor and a filter at the finishing station solve the problem. The 7.5 kW 4-in-1 has them built in.
Can I use a piston compressor in a joinery workshop?
Yes, for occasional use: some nailing, stapling, blowing. However, production assembly or a full day of spray finishing requires a continuous air flow, which is what a screw compressor is designed for. A piston compressor, on the other hand, needs rest periods between cycles.
How do I maintain a compressor used in a joinery workshop?
The same as anywhere else, with particular attention to the intake filter, which clogs faster because of fine dust. Drain the condensate, check the oil and change filters and wear parts at the intervals in the manual. AIRSTAHL service kits group these parts by model and are in stock in England.
