Compressor for industry and production

Screw compressor for industry and production: continuous air for machines, cylinders and assembly tools, from 11 to 132 kW. 2-year warranty, 15-year parts.

In production, compressed air is a utility like electricity: it drives cylinders, packaging machines, assembly tools and cleaning blow-offs. When the compressor stops, the line stops.

What industry expects from a compressor

  • Continuous running, over one or more shifts, without overheating.
  • Stable pressure, so machines always work under the same conditions.
  • Clean, dry air, to protect cylinders, valves and products.
  • Controlled energy costs: over a compressor's life, electricity weighs far more than the purchase price.

Which compressor for a production line? The S Series

S Series screw compressors are built for this pace. The S 220 PM, with its permanent-magnet motor, is the choice for sites that run a lot. Paired with a receiver and a dryer sized for the flow, they form a complete installation.

From 30 to 132 kW

Above 22 kW, the S series goes up to 132 kW, for sites running continuously over several shifts. These machines are offered on quotation: describe your site (flow, pressure, number of shifts) and we will size the compressor, or the multi-machine installation, with you.

Frequently asked questions — Industry and production

How do I size an air compressor for a production line?

Start from the actual consumption of all the machines, cylinders and tools running at the same time, taken from their technical data sheets or measured on the existing network. Add a margin for leaks and future expansion. Above 22 kW, the S series goes up to 132 kW: we size the machine, or the multi-compressor installation, with you.

What are the benefits of a permanent magnet compressor?

The permanent magnet motor is fitted to our 22 kW screw compressor (S 220 PM), designed for sites that run a lot. Over the service life of an industrial compressor, electricity weighs far more than the purchase price, hence the value of a motor chosen for efficiency. Consumption data is given on the model's technical data sheet.

What compressed air quality do pneumatic cylinders and valves need?

Dry, filtered air: water and particles wear seals, cause valves to stick and can reach the products. A refrigerated dryer and filtration suited to the air flow, fitted after the compressor, form the basis. If the air comes into contact with the product, your sector's quality requirements apply and should be checked before sizing the air treatment.

How can I reduce the electricity cost of compressed air?

Start by tracking down leaks in the network, which make the compressor run for nothing, and set the pressure to what the machines strictly need. Shut off the air outside production and size the air receiver to limit short cycles. Finally, choose a compressor suited to the actual air flow: an oversized or undersized machine uses more than it should.

Do I need a backup compressor for production?

When loss of air stops the line, redundancy is often justified: two compressors sharing the load, or a backup machine ready to take over. This also allows maintenance to be carried out without stopping production. It is a point to build in from the installation design stage.

How do I maintain an industrial compressor running multiple shifts?

Maintenance is planned in operating hours: filters, oil and air/oil separator to be replaced at the intervals in the manual, condensate drains to be checked. With several shifts, these deadlines come round quickly, so it is best to keep a log of hours and have the kits in stock. AIRSTAHL supplies one service kit per model, and spare parts remain available for 15 years.
