Above 22 kW, compressed air becomes an installation in its own right: one or several machines, receivers, air treatment and a network that supplies the whole plant. For these needs, AIRSTAHL offers screw compressors from 30 to 132 kW, on quotation. Each machine is chosen and configured from your site's real consumption, not from a catalogue.
Which sites are they for?
- Factories and production lines running two or three shifts, where an air stoppage stops production.
- Food processing, plastics, packaging, metalworking, machining: machines that use air continuously.
- Sites replacing an old high-power compressor, or moving to variable speed.
- High-volume sandblasting and shot blasting, where the nozzle needs a lot of air: the machine is chosen from the nozzle diameter, up to 132 kW.
- Sites bringing several small machines together in a single compressor room.

How we size your installation
An industrial compressor that is too big costs a lot in electricity; one that is too small lets the pressure drop at the points of use. Before proposing a machine, we start from your figures:
- Real consumption: average flow, peak flow and the profile over the day. On an existing site, our technicians can measure it during a compressed air audit.
- The useful pressure at the machines, not the pressure shown on the compressor.
- The air quality your machines and products need (see ISO 8573-1).
- The number of machines: one large machine or several smaller ones, with or without a standby compressor (see compressed air plant).
- The room: available space, ventilation, removal of heat and condensate (see compressor room).
You then receive a costed proposal: machines, air treatment, connection and lead time.
A typical compressor room
A well-designed industrial installation clearly separates air production (1 to 3), storage (4), treatment (5 and 6) and distribution. The room must remove the heat from the machines (8 and 9), which can also be recovered for heating or hot water.
Replacing an old industrial compressor
An old fixed-speed compressor that spends long hours idling is often a plant's first source of savings. Before replacing it like for like, measure what the plant really uses: the new machine is often smaller than the old one, or better split across two compressors.
