Refrigerated dryer for 5.5 and 7.5 kW compressors

Description

Refrigerated dryer sized for a 7.5 kW screw compressor (1.1 m³/min at 8 bar for the S 55 and S 75). It cools the compressed air to condense the moisture, then drains it: dry air reaches your tools and paint jobs, and the network does not rust. Install it after the air receiver, with a filter upstream and a drain.

How does a refrigerated dryer work?

The hot compressed air enters a heat exchanger where a refrigeration circuit cools it to a few degrees above zero. The water vapour condenses into droplets, which a separator collects and a drain removes. The air is then reheated before returning to the network, which prevents condensation on the pipes.

Installing it correctly

• in a ventilated, frost-free room, because the condenser releases the heat removed from the air;
• with a pre-filter upstream to protect the heat exchanger from oil and particles;
• with a bypass valve, so that work can be carried out without cutting off the workshop air.

Maintenance

Clean the condenser regularly, more often in a dusty workshop, and check that the drain is removing the water properly. A dryer with a clogged condenser dries less effectively in summer, just when the air contains the most moisture.
