Description
Cartridge fitted in the oil tank: it separates the oil from the compressed air before the outlet. A worn separator increases oil consumption and the oil content of the air.
How does it work?
When it leaves the screw air-end, the compressed air is loaded with lubricating oil. The cartridge, fitted in the separator tank, traps this oil: it stays inside the compressor and flows back into the lubrication circuit to be reused. The compressed air passes through the minimum pressure valve located above the separator, then is sent to the air receiver.
When to replace it?
At the interval set by the maintenance schedule, or earlier if you notice abnormal oil consumption, oil in the network or a pressure loss at the compressor outlet. A clogged separator also makes the motor work harder.
Replacing it means opening the pressurised oil circuit: it is done with the machine stopped and depressurised. The service kit for your model groups it with the other service parts.
Choosing the right part number
The separator is sized for the air flow of each compressor. The product sheet lists the compatible models; if in doubt, send the serial number or a photo of your machine's rating plate.
